The origin

The Tāhei ‘Autī ia Mo’orea Federation came into being as a result of a group of associations and residents mobilizing against the Paetou project and for the preservation of Tema’e beach; the creation of a Federation under the status of the law of 1901 enabling legal action to be taken. The Federation was officially created in March 2022 and has been active ever since.

The Federation aims to consult, coordinate and prioritize the actions of cultural, religious, sporting, environmental and fishing associations, citizens’ collectives, and all those working to protect the authenticity of Mo’orea-Maiao and the well-being of its entire population.

Its aim is to combat all forms of pollution and nuisance, as well as any direct or indirect damage to natural spaces, resources and environments, sites and landscapes, air, water and soil quality, animal and plant species, and ecosystems. Common biodiversity areas are a heritage that contributes to the well-being of Mo’orea-Maiao’s inhabitants.

In this way, Mo’orea-Maiao retains its authenticity and remains worthy of the tangible and intangible heritage handed down by previous generations.

We’re on the move, in search of a collective awakening to what’s happening on our little island. To question our true values, which ensure the continuity of mā’ohi culture, and if we agree to close our eyes, to accept without saying a word the future imposed by politicians, who are guided only by power and money.

We want to show the world what a small island like Mo’orea and its people can do and achieve. Especially when we put the common good first.

You too can contribute to the preservation of Mo’orea’s authenticity by making a donation.

The associations

Some twenty members of CASCEM, Collective of Sports, Cultural and Environmental Associations of Moorea, are committed to creating, managing and supporting our federation, including the following associations:

The culture

Let’s use culture to show another vision linked to the way of life of our tupuna, our ancestors. Let’s use the Polynesian vision to show that it’s possible and long-term.

Our land and culture are under threat. That’s why we need your help. All our actions involve legal action, lawyers’ fees and the organization of cultural events.

If you too want to protect your island from intensive urbanization, enable our children to continue to live and invest on their land in Mo’orea, subscribe to our newsletter, follow our news and share our actions, join us!

We protect those we love, so joining the Federation is a duty for me. If we don’t, who will do it for our children?

Member of the Federation executive committee
