Paetou case, Teavaro

In 2019, the population of Mo’orea opposed the OBTP company’s subdivision project. The Collectif Paetou, associations and residents defending this land, and CASCEM, proposed to the Pays and the Commune the purchase of the land and a project to build a cultural center.

In 2020, the developer, constrained by the Tribunal following the Collectif’s actions, changed his real estate project to a subdivision project. It was reduced by more than 2/3. Work begins. They exceed the authorizations granted to SNC Paetou. The Collectif then decided to transform itself into a federation, making legal recourse and action possible. And indeed, the Tāhei ‘Autī ia Mo’orea Federation will take the case to the Administrative Court…

“After receiving no response from either the Construction and Planning Department or the Mo’orea municipality regarding the reports made last February about SNC Paetou’s work (on the Paetou site) in Teavaro and the reasons for halting this work, the Tāhei ‘Autī ia Mo’orea Federation decided to take legal action against the company owned by developer Olivier Billaudet on August 25. The aim of this action is to appoint an expert to come and observe the illegality of part of the work carried out…”

In February 2023, the Federation won its case! 
The Administrative Court orders an expert opinion, and the Federation has to pay the costs. The Tribunal appoints the expert, and the situation is pending.
