The culture
Polynesian culture is inseparable from our mission to preserve the island:
like a root, mā’ohi culture is the fabric that supports the Federation.
La connaissance
Not so long ago, the locals were very respectful of ha’api’ira’a. The ha’api’ira’a, means knowing your mountain, your river, your marae, your pass, everything that surrounds you. That’s where our mana comes from. This is our true wealth.
And that’s what drives us within the Federation: to preserve, live and perpetuate these ha’api’ira’a while continuing to move with the times. Gone are the days of terms like primitive, indigenous… It’s important to restore this pride in the mā’ohi people, in their knowledge as vast as their ocean, in understanding and living to the rhythm of nature and what it offers us: according to the stars, the moon, the winds, the currents, the swells, the animals.
The events
The cultural department is the foundation on which the actions of the Tāhei’Autī ia Mo’orea Federation are based.
By combining the efforts of all those who wish to preserve as much of the island’s authenticity as possible and those who wish to reconnect with the base, the root of our being, we are able to reconnect with the energies of the earth.
The Federation proposes several cultural events throughout the year to strengthen our link with culture and share these ancestral practices with the island’s population.
