‘Ohura’a o te tau enters schools in Moorea
Since its inception, the cultural project ‘Ohura’a o te tau – the cycle of time and space has aimed to reconnect children with their natural and cultural environment, guiding them in observing the signs of the sky, sea, and earth, in order to strengthen their roots: “My Earth, my Ocean, my Sky.”
After being presented to volunteer teachers in Moorea and supported by a grant for the creation of trilingual educational kits (Tahitian, French, English), the project is taking a new step forward with its integration into the island’s primary schools.
📍 Papetoai: On September 3, a comprehensive presentation of the project was given at the primary school, including the five main themes (Tere o rā, Toro te a’a, Matari’i i ni’a, Matari’i i raro, Te hei hono rau) as well as the adaptation of the materials to different age groups.
It was a moment of learning and transmission experienced with gratitude and sharing: “We hold the child’s hand for this work; they are the active principle of ‘Ohura’a o te tau.”
📍 Afareaitu: On September 24 at 12:30 p.m., the primary school hosted its own presentation of the project. The school has already confirmed that ‘Ohura’a o te tau will be integrated into its school project.
These meetings mark a major step forward: ‘Ohura’a o te tau is becoming a living tool for transmission, now being tested directly in schools. The collective and the federation express their immense gratitude to the teachers and educational communities of Moorea who are paving the way for this collective adventure.
