Natura Porinetia Fund Supports the Fare Aru Project
‘Ia ora na,
The federation would like to once again thank the Federation of Environmental Protection Associations – FAPE and its founding donor partners for their support within the framework of the Natura Porinetia Fund call for projects:
- Tahiti Tourisme, Banque Socredo, Polynésienne des Eaux, EDT ENGIE, Air Tahiti Nui, TSP Tahiti, Pacific Beachcomber, TEP, TSP, Ofina, OSB
Indeed, an amount of 750,000 XPF was awarded to our federation to fund the Fare Aru project:
- Purchase of equipment for monthly site clean-ups;
- Partial funding for the preparation of the building permit application and educational content for the Peho trail.
As a reminder, the Faru Aru project involves the creation of an educational Fare on the Mara’amu land in the Opunohu valley. This area will be used primarily by schoolchildren from Moorea, but also from other islands, to offer them educational tours in reo tahiti along the ‘uru trail (more than 60 planted varieties, as well as some 20 banana varieties), the high points of Opunohu, te ‘ohura’a o te tau…
An area will also be set aside for hikers.
This project contributes to the preservation of local biodiversity, while providing an educational and discovery opportunity for visitors. The ‘uru, or breadfruit tree, is a strong symbol of our culture, and this trail will help to raise awareness of this essential plant, as well as many other species.
