Report on the meeting with Minister Oraihoomana
The Minister, tasked by the President of the Region with ascertaining our position on the Tema’e issue, has taken due note of our request to the public authorities to maintain a non-private area in place of a 3.2 hectare plot of land known as ER n°22, which has been included in the PGA of the island of Moorea since 2013. The aim is to guarantee the community sustainable access to a lagoon-side area.
During this one-hour meeting, we also discussed the Manutea Lodge in Piha’ena, Paopao. But for the time being, the case is before the courts.
With regard to the public consultation on the future of Tema’e that the President of the region mentioned in February, May, June and September 2024, in the event of disagreement between the parties involved, according to the Minister, the timeframe does not allow it to be implemented before the municipal elections in March 2026.
Furthermore, the fact that the country has not acquired ER n°22 is not synonymous with public consultation.
Having previously received representatives of the WANE Group, the Minister will shortly be meeting those of the Commune of Moorea Maiao and will then report back to the Head of State.
The latter will meet all the stakeholders in June-July before announcing the Pays’ decision.
