Fare Aru: Last working meeting with the DAG
On Tuesday 17 December, members of our federation held a working meeting with Teddy OOPA from the Moorea DAG on the subject of the Fare Aru project. As a reminder, the federation is planning to build an educational Fare Aru in the Opunohu valley, where schoolchildren can learn traditional lessons about time, place names and biodiversity in Reo Tahiti. The project has already received a favourable opinion from the Minister, and there was talk of working on the survey document for the land that will be made available to the Federation.
The first draft of the project presentation and the first sketches of the Fare Aru have been sent to the DAG. The agreement should be signed during the first quarter of 2025.
The federation will also welcome a trainee in August 2025 who will work on the educational trail of ‘uru and endemic trees on Mara’amu land.
48 seedlings (12 varieties including AFARA, ARAVEI, AUMAIRE, FAFA’I, HAVANA, HUERO NINAMU and RE’A RE’A, OTEA pata Hu’a and pata Rahi, PETI, PUERO and PUERO TARATARA) have been prepared by the Raiatea DAG office and will be transported to Opunohu towards the end of the first quarter of 2025.
