Activities of Peho ‘Uru and Fare Aru in July 2025
‘Ia ora na,
On Saturday, July 19, the monthly cleaning of the peho ‘uru took place, providing a great opportunity to try out the new equipment purchased with funds from Natura Porinetia, set up by FAPE. Our intern Julie CANTINEAU, who recently arrived from Belgium, was able to learn how to use the brush cutter.
During her two-month internship, Julie will be tasked with creating a descriptive sheet for each variety of ‘uru planted, as well as planning educational tours adapted to different school levels—from kindergarten to university.
Condition of the plants
The ‘uru trees are doing well, some very well indeed, and should continue to produce fruit as Matari’i i ni’a approaches. At the start of the trail, a few plants require some work: cutting back neighboring trees, improving the soil, or digging up a few roots.
Fare Aru
Regarding Fare Aru, the federation is still waiting—endlessly—for the land use agreement from the Moorea DAG.
Next steps
22 new ‘uru plants are currently being transported from the Raiatea branch. In addition, an architect who is a member of Tāhei is currently working on resizing the project in order to refine the overall estimate. She has also begun the consultation phase with the design firms.
