Access to the coast must remain public

“Preserving access to the coast for the population”. Following the Groupe Wane’s takeover of the Temae zone, and especially the beach section, many associations and residents rose up in arms. Privatization of the beach and the desire to modify the EMMP to build bungalows on stilts were simply out of the question for the Mo’orea nuna’a. On November 13, 2021, over 2,000 people gathered on Temae beach in Mo’orea. Cultural, religious, sports, environmental and fishing associations, citizens’ groups and everyone else concerned by the future of this beach came together to say “NO” to the hotel project. Temae beach is a jewel coveted by investors, but their projects do not meet the needs of our people. We have grown up going freely to this beach, and future generations will also enjoy this right. A first victory for the Moorea Temae Plage and Temae Inhabitants associations who, through legal action, were able to prevent the destruction of marine fauna by preserving the boundaries of the PGEM. But the fight is not over, and we need all the help we can get. Please contact us for further information, donations and non-material contributions. Thank you for your support. Thank you for Mo’orea, for us and for future generations.
